Sheldon Kay, LAPC
Personal challenge can often provide clarity of purpose. Sheldon found this perspective to be
true when he uncovered a love for the mental health industry as he was doing the work to grow
from his own life difficulties. Sheldon invested in his passion for mental Health and began
graduate school for Clinical Mental Health Counseling while serving as a sergeant for the
Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. Sheldon served the Atlanta Metropolitan area as a firefighter,
investigator, and counselor until retiring with distinction to work fulltime as a therapist.
Sheldon is trained as an Emotionally Focused Therapist and is passionate about serving couples
individuals and families. Demographically Sheldon enjoys serving teens, young adults, seniors,
LGBTQIA+. Sheldon has extensive experience and training in trauma informed care, anxiety
disorders, depression, men’s issues, life transition concerns, relational conflict or difficulty and
those dealing with the complexity of being a frontline worker or first responder.
Sheldon relishes the opportunity to engage in outdoor sports like running, hiking, and cycling.
When time permits you can find Sheldon with his wife and sons binging their favorite movies
and TV shows together with close family friends. Over the years Sheldon’s home has become
the place where close knit family and friends gather regularly. Sheldon rarely misses an
opportunity to ride motorcycles when the weather permits and take in beautiful, picturesque
landscapes around the country.
